The John Berne School is a Catholic special school owned and operated by the Marist Brothers.

Berne caters for boys and girls aged 12–16 in years 7–10 who are at risk of not completing their education because they are behaviour disordered, school refusers, or are not coping in mainstream school.

It provides educational, personal, social, and family services with the goal that these children will obtain a School Certificate and make a successful transition into the next phase of their lives. Ultimately it aims to assist them to become contributing members of society and happy, mature adults.
